四级词汇讲解:
本句的主干是there was a time in my life。 when people asked constantly for stories...是when引导的定语从句，用来修饰先行词time; about what it's like to woke in a field dominated by men是stories的定语，用来说明stories的具体内容;dominated by men是非谓语动词形式，作后置定语，修饰field。
ask for的意思是“要求，请求”。dominate的意思是“统治，支配，控制”。如:
He has been in the position for many years and has been used to dominating others.他在那个职位上已经多年，习惯了支配别人。
英语四级考点归纳:
关系副词when, where, why和关系代词that, which用法的区别:
引导定语从句的关系副词有when,where和why。其中when表示时间，where表示地点，why表示原因;它们在从句中分别作时间状语、地点状语和原因状语。但是，当先行词表示时间、地点或原因，关系词在从句中作主语或宾语而不是状语时，不可用when, where或why，而应用that或which。如:
1) I will never forget the day when I first met her.我永远也忘不了初次见到她的那一天。(从句中缺状语，应用关系副词when)
2) I will never forget the day thatlwhich we spend together.我永远也忘不了我们一起度过的那一天。(从句中缺宾语，应用关系代词that或which )
